SIXTY-ONE/ key pieces for survival

We all have items that we simply cannot live without. For some people its their favourite sweater, their favourite brand of shampoo or their signature scent. For me, it's a whole mess of things. I'm so seriously brand loyal and once I find a product that I love - I stick to it. Under the cut here is a list of some of my favourite products (from fashion, to beauty, to food, to other) that make my life a little bit easier and make me a bit more happy. Although none of what I listed is crucial for survival, some days it feels like they are.

I decided to leave out some of the more obvious ones, like my iPod Classic, iPhone or my wallet - those are just no brainers. Please feel free to share some of your favourite items in the comments!

1. Vichy 3-in-1 One Step Cleanser: I don't know what I would do without this product. It works as a makeup remover, cleanser and toner and can be used without water. It is so amazing at taking off even layered on waterproof mascara. I have insanely sensitive and acne prone skin (yay me!) and it works flawlessly.

2. L'Oreal Paris 'Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream': THIS STUFF RIGHT HERE IS AN ABSOLUTE GODSEND!!!!! My amazing co-worker introduced me to the stuff after I kept freaking out over how flawless her skin looked. Seriously, I have the worst skin ever. It's oily, I have really bad acne, I rash, it is so dry and peely, it's a complete and utter mess. I've shelled out hundreds and hundreds of dollars looking for the perfect foundation that offered coverage, moisture without being too oily and a direct match to my pasty white skin. This stuff has all of that and more. Seriously, I adore this product.

3. Tetley Pure Green Tea: As much as I loooooove coffee and espresso, I cannot live without tea. Black teas, white teas, green teas and herbal teas... I fiend for them all. Seriously, if I'm at home and I don't have a cup of tea by my side something is seriously wrong.

4. Lindt Excellence Caramel / Sea Salt Dark Chocolate bar: I couldn't care less about chocolate, to be completely honest with you. One of these bars could last me weeks, but there is something about the mix of caramel, dark chocolate (soooo much better than milk) and sea salt, that just puts my mind at ease. Eating a square of this chocolate bar every few days is the perfect stress reliever. (Emotional Eating 101)

5. MICHAEL Michael Kors Skinny Jeans: I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of skinny jeans for YEARS. They're just so effortlessly chic, but apparently impossible to find. On a recent trip to the United States, I found a pair of plus size MICHAEL Michael Kors jet black skinny jeans at TJ Maxx for $39.99. They are perfection. They're super high waisted, stretchy and they suck everything in. My only issue with them is that they're a bit long, but my legs are freakishly short so that's a problem I'm pretty used to.

6. Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Natasha Q' in Electric Blue: I seem to have an infinite amount of handbags but I always come back to this one. It is by far my favourite out of my collection, I love the colour and size of it. It is also the easiest to wear and adds a pop to any outfit.

7. Michel Kors 'Oversized Runway' watch in gold: You're probably tired of seeing me with this watch, but I'll never tire of wearing it. It doesn't even have a battery in it right now, but I still find myself wearing it close to daily. Even a broken watch is right twice a day!!

8. OPI nail polish in 'Black Onyx': We all should know by now that I am terrified of colour and that I'm a little insane when it comes to matching things, right? With black nail polish I always give off witchy vibes and I always match my outfit. Such a win win scenario. OPI is by far my favourite brand that I've tried. I feel like I've tried every brand out there - from the super cheap dollar store stuff (yuck) to Chanel (totally not worth it). The only other brands that I really adore are Revlon and Butter London.

9. Joe Fresh matte lipstick in 'Bubble Gum': Cheap lipstick for LIFE. This is my all-time favourite out of my lipstick collection. I have bought it a few times because I keep running out. It's the perfect shade of light pink and it is extremely long lasting.

10. Burberry London lambswool scarf: Now that it has finally gotten colder where I live, I have been wearing this scarf almost daily. It has become like a security blanket for me and it is as if I can conquer anything as long as I'm wearing it. It's so cozy and so chic, how could I not adore it?

11. Guess 'Gold' Perfume: I'm not usually a fan of Guess products but oh my god this perfume is a-ma-zing. It's impossible to find now so I'm trying to make my bottle last - it's not going so well. I can't help it, I'm addicted.

12. Dr. Martens: Need I say more?

13. Yankee Candle in 'Egyptian Cotton': I so truly want to be a 'candle person' and I think I'm making the right steps towards that goal. I have an extreme, severely irrational fear of fire (I understand that fear of fire ISN'T irrational, but the level I have of it / the caution I take is so out there... it limits a lot of my daily life... but ANYWAY). I'm getting into the swing of things and slowly getting over my phobia by burning this candle every now and then. I love the fresh light scent of it, it smells like a laundromat!

Some of the items seem a bit lavish or vain and obviously aren't crucial to living (none of what listed really is, but it gives you guys a glimpse into my life), but they make me happy and in my opinion, that's all that truly matters.

  1. haha I've been wearing my burberry scarf a lot too, for some reason I can wear skirts no problem but I have to keep my neck warm at all times!

    1. It's just so cozy! I swear they are the warmest things ever.

  2. I need to try that BB cream! Our skin sounds the same. It's crazy though, when I was pregnant my skin wasn't oily at all and I had maybe ONE breakout the whole nine months. Now that I've had my daughter, I feel like my acne is coming back with a vengeance :(

    1. You have to try it omg. I hated BB creams at first and I was so hesitant to try it, but I'm SO glad that I did. I'm never going back to thick foundations.

That sucks about your acne! I absolutely hate my skin so I know the feeling.
